Slovenia… Once it was the most northern republic of Yugoslavia but previously it belonged to Austria for more than 1,000 years. Today it can be seen in the architecture of Slovenia in many places. Like Austria, Slovenia can be divided into snowcapped mountains and idyllic valleys. Besides, alongside with the beautiful Drava and the Oberkrainer folk music, the piece of Adriatic coast can also be called the part of Slovenia.
Slovenia offers a wide range of a recreational activities and sightseeing during your holidays. Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia) still reminds Austrian architecture in its Baroque style. A trip to the beautiful city of Maribor (Marburg in the past) is highly recommended. Maribor is surrounded by vineyards and woods and it is situated not far from the Austrian border in the Northern-Eastern part of Slovenia. Wineries and wine bars invite you to visit them and almost make them to make you feel like in Austria, but the prices are much cheaper.
A trip to old Lipica is also very interesting. It is situated not far from the Italian border and is known as Vienna’s Hofburg stallions bred for many centuries. Nowadays it is still prominent for Lipizzaner bred but not for Vienna Hofburg. A vacation in this region of Slovenia is especially recommended for horse riders. On the back of prominent horses you can discover the area. Those who can’t ride horseback can just watch horse dressage. Within the time the small village turned into a large one with apartments and cottages offers.
In Slovenian Postojna one can find the world-famous noble Postojna caves. Due to their size and great lightening the Postojna caves can bring much fun both to the young and the old.
You will hardly ever have a communication problem while spending your vacation in Slovenia because many Slovenes speak the English language very well.
