Culture

The Church of Saint James in Jakobski Dol was built as a chapel as early as the late 14th century and became a parish church in 1785. The church in Jarenina combines Gothic and Baroque stylistic elements, as well as some Renaissance elements.

The restored Jareninski dvor houses a winery and the Dveri-Pax restaurant and continues the tradition of winegrowing. Jareninski dvor and the associated estate were acquired in the 12th century by Benedictines from Admont.

Wine

Dveri-Pax offers tasting menus of varying lengths, paired with selected wines. Dveri-Pax uses organically grown vegetables, herbs and spices from its own garden, as well as carefully selected ingredients from local food producers.

Along the Gornje-slovenjegoriška vinska turistična cesta, white wines such as Laški rizling, Kerner, Sauvignon, Traminer, Yellow Muscat, Green Sylvaner and Pinot Gris can be sampled at excursion and tourism farms, vinotheques and wine cellars. In the wider regional area around Maribor, the Old Vine Route leads via Ruperče, past Pernica and Lake Pernica, to Jarenina and Jareninski dvor. The Gornje-slovenjegoriška vinska turistična cesta includes Pesnica, Jarenina, Pernica and Jakobski Dol.

The Vogrinov Museum and the windmill are listed on the Pesniška kolesarska pot (16).

The Pesniška pot is a 10 km long hiking trail that can be completed in approximately four hours, including breaks.

Lake Pernica consists of two retention basins connected by a canal and separated from each other by a narrow dam with a road. Numerous wetland plants grow along the shore. The body of water is an important biotope for waterbirds and serves as a resting place for some rare migratory birds.

Lake Pernica is suitable for fishing, but not for swimming. Fishing is permitted only with a valid fishing licence and in accordance with the applicable fishing regulations and the rules of the operator.

Vogrinčič Beekeeping has an apiary with 18 beehives, an api chamber, a bed above the beehives and a massage room.
