Vučnik: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

Landscape and Trails

The first stage of the Camino Gorski Kotar runs near Vučnik, from Kamačnik via Vrbovsko to Lukovdol. The route is approximately 17 kilometers long.

Near Vučnik, the Riblje–Lesci trail follows the Kupa Valley for 2.6 kilometers. It can be used on foot or by bicycle; there are eight resting places along the route.

Near Vučnik, the Panova Staza near Kamačnik is an acoustic themed trail with five musical and educational instruments. Near Vučnik, walking paths in the Zrinsko-Frankopan Castle Park in Severin na Kupi lead down to the Kupa. The park is a protected monument of park architecture and also includes a viewpoint overlooking the river and the wooded valley.

Culture and History

In the vicinity of Vučnik, the HPM Museum presents the life and work of Ivan Goran Kovačić through five exhibition themes, including “Goran and Lukovdol” and “Goranovo proljeće.” The HPM Memorial Museum is housed in the poet’s birthplace in Lukovdol and uses ethnographic material from Gorski Kotar to present his life and work.

Near Vučnik, the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands in Lukovdol. It is one of the oldest churches in Gorski Kotar; the present building dates from around 1573. The late Gothic building has a single nave, a semicircular sanctuary, and a massive tower.

Near Vučnik, the Chapel of Saint Francis Xavier is located in Rtić near Lukovdol. It is considered the oldest religious building in the town of Vrbovsko and was extensively restored in 1713.

Near Vučnik, the sculpture trail in Plemenitaš comprises 16 sculptures and can be visited year-round. The Plemenitaš Art Workshop has been housed in an old school since 1996 and is a cultural center. The Galerija Alrauna Presika displays around 600 figures in the artist’s home.

Near Vučnik, Gomirje Monastery celebrates the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God every year on August 28.

In the wider region, Plemenitaš is counted among the villages on the Kupa side, which are valued as examples of traditional architecture. Vučnik is assigned to the eastern part of the Kajkavian dialect area of Gorski Kotar.
