Jakšići: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Nature

In the Vrbovsko area, Kamačnik is a protected landscape of significance with a 3.2 km-long watercourse. The source of the Kamačnik is located nearby and is part of the Natura 2000 network because of the endemic underground fauna found there.

At Kamačnik, the Panova Staza runs as an acoustic trail with five musical instruments. Nearby, in Moravice, Lake Čogrljevo is formed by five small springs and a waterfall. A path along a coniferous forest allows visitors to see the springs; brown trout can also be observed there.

Paths and activities

The historic Lujzijana is the state-road corridor between Rijeka and Zagreb, running through Vrbovsko to Karlovac. Moravice is located on the Lujzijana Road and the Zagreb–Rijeka railway line.

The Riblje–Lesci Trail is approximately 2.6 km long and takes about 45 minutes on foot. It follows the Kupa River and includes a spot where swimming is possible in summer. For cycling, the 18.4 km-long Dobra–Lake Čogrljevo route, classified as easy, and the 15.7 km-long Vrbovsko–Gomirje–Kamačnik route, rated as medium difficulty, are available.

The Oblikovna Likovna radionica Plemenitaš opens its facilities for field courses, open-air summer schools and anti-stress workshops.

Culture and history

The HPM Memorijalni muzej Ivana Gorana Kovačića is located nearby in the poet’s birthplace and presents a permanent exhibition about his life and work. The permanent presentation is divided into five thematic sections.

In Plemenitaš, the workshop’s collection comprises 250 contemporary ceramic works. It can be visited during the summer season or by prior arrangement. The Vrbovsko City Exhibition Gallery permanently presents the city’s heraldic history.

The Orthodox Church of Saint George the Great Martyr in Moravice was built in 1900. A 2025 school-trip programme on Serbian language and culture included a guided visit to this church in Dokmanovići, Moravice.

Danilo Jakšić was born in 1715 in Jakšići, Moravice. In 1750, he was elected bishop of the Karlovac Diocese and ordained in 1751; he is credited with helping to open schools and build churches in the Karlovac Diocese.
