The annual Severinska večer combines the castle with a historical reenactment and local traditions. These include wine-based specialties, traditional cakes and customs associated with Miholje.
Dvorac Severin na Kupi was owned by the old noble Frankopan family. The castle is already mentioned in records from 1558. The building is a single-storey, quadrangular structure with an inner courtyard, arcaded walkways and cylindrical corner towers.
It is not possible to visit the interior of Severin Castle.
Nature and Trails
The castle park in Severin na Kupi is protected as a park architecture monument. Perivoj dvorca Severin na Kupi is laid out on three levels and contains plantings of holly, Lawson cypress, horse chestnut, elm, yew and boxwood. From there, there is a view of the Kupa River and its valley.
The Ribje–Lesci Trail begins in Severin na Kupi at the post office. It follows an old caravan route along the Kupa over a 2.6-kilometre gravel section. A spot for summer swimming is marked along the trail.
Water
Klanac Beach is located in Severin na Kupi on the Kupa. Rafting on the Kupa is possible when the water level is high; high water levels are common in spring and autumn as well as after heavier rainfall.
