Planning a trip to Molle also offers insights into the surrounding district: a protected Molle tree, Parque del Niño in Estuquiña and Bodega El Mocho each represent different cultural and natural themes. In the wider travel area of the Moquegua region, Cerro Baúl adds a perspective on archaeological cultural heritage.

Tree and park in the district

The tree known as “Molle centenario” stands on the central reservation of Parque del Niño, in the Estuquiña sector of Centro Poblado Los Ángeles in the Moquegua District. Its protection and preservation have been declared a matter of public interest at the provincial level. A municipal report dated 13 November 2024 describes the “Molle Centenario de Estuquiña” as the first tree in the country to be recognized as a heritage tree, and as a natural heritage site of Moquegua.

A municipal report dated 29 February 2024 describes Parque del Niño in Estuquiña as covering 850 square metres and mentions green spaces and recreational facilities. On the same date, the municipality reported the renovation of four play areas: a bouncy mat, a themed octopus swing, themed ship slides, and an area for family photos featuring four sculptures of characters from the film Madagascar. The park’s condition and installations may change; check the current situation before visiting.

Wine and history at El Mocho

Bodega El Mocho offers a spacious rural setting where visitors can taste wines and piscos and enjoy the natural surroundings of the estate. Visits require prior arrangements; check the current visiting arrangements in advance.

The history of the bodega began in 1990: Don Tomás Salas Alarcón and Doña Susana Juárez Salas started by planting 60 vines each of the Quebranta and Italia varieties. The following year brought the first harvest and the estate’s first wine. In 1997, the bodega was formalized and renamed “El Mocho”. This timeline makes the tastings more than a single activity: it connects the wines with a specific founding story.
