Trapiche: Lagoon, Green Spaces, and Clear Directions
Accommodation in Trapiche
Trapiche can be explored through a natural attraction and practical landmarks. The natural lagoon is a place to spend time by the water; street and bus-stop details help you include other named places in your plans.
The Lagoon and Time Outdoors
Trapiche’s natural lagoon is fed by the Río Chillón and underground springs and forms a natural, chlorine-free swimming pool. Extensive green spaces surround it, where visitors can grill outdoors. This natural setting offers two distinct options: spending time in the water and relaxing in the green spaces. If you plan to swim, check the water conditions on site; if you are planning a barbecue, also confirm whether visitor access is currently permitted. This distinction makes a visit to the lagoon easier to plan without treating the two activities as the same.
Getting There via Puente Trapiche
A route to the lagoon described in 2024 first involved taking a bus to kilometer 22 and getting off at the “Pollo” stop. From there, buses or shared taxis continued along Avenida Túpac Amaru via Puente Trapiche. Since these are operational details about public transport, check before setting out whether the route and connections are still in service. Puente Trapiche also serves the settlements on the left bank of the Río Chillón along the road to Canta: it gives them access when high water cuts them off from the rest of the district’s transport network. On the way to the lagoon, the bridge is the crossing; for the riverside settlements, its role as an access route becomes especially important under these flood conditions. Road conditions can vary seasonally.
Two Landmarks at Kilometer 40
Kilometer 40 is given for two other landmarks, but they are on different roads. Las Retamas is in Trapiche on the Lima–Canta road; distinctive green spaces characterize the place. Centro Recreacional Agualandia is also at kilometer 40, but on the Carabayllo–Canta road. So if you are heading to either place, include the full road name in your plans: the kilometer marker alone is not enough to distinguish between the two locations.
Choose a Focus for Your Accommodation Search
When choosing a vacation rental in Trapiche, you can use your excursion plans as a starting point. For a visit to the lagoon, water conditions and current public transport are the key considerations; for Las Retamas and Agualandia, the relevant road name matters. These are different planning aids: one concerns whether a planned lagoon visit is feasible, while the other helps distinguish between two locations listed at kilometer 40. Before booking, decide which destinations are a priority during your stay and check the relevant information.
