In the Yaután District, archaeological themes and regional traditions are tied to different locations: geoglyphs were documented in the Casa Blanca study area, Pallka is also in the district, and the Festival de la Vendimia is held annually in Cachipampa. Not all of these are located in the town of Casa Blanca itself. When looking for a vacation rental, it may therefore help to consider whether Casa Blanca itself should be the focus of your stay or whether you mainly plan to attend a cultural event in the district.

Geoglyphs and Pallka

In 2025, 14 geoglyphs were archaeologically documented in Sector II of the Casa Blanca study area in the Yaután District.

Another archaeological site is the Zona Arqueológica Monumental “Pallka sector A y B” in the Yaután District. A publication dated December 14, 2022, states that Sectors A and B were administered and owned by Peru’s Ministry of Culture. At that time, the site was used to protect, preserve, and promote the national cultural heritage.

The geoglyphs and Pallka give the archaeological theme two distinct contours: for the geoglyphs, the focus is on their number and sector; for Pallka, on institutional responsibility and the protection, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage. This distinguishes the two references without conflating them into a single location.

The Vendimia Tradition in Cachipampa

The Festival de la Vendimia de Cachipampa is held annually in the town of Cachipampa in the Yaután District, not in the town of Casa Blanca. It preserves traditional grape-growing and harvesting methods. Activities include the traditional grape judging, grape stomping, and product tastings; these are all part of the festival.

On May 22, 2025, the municipality recognized the festival as a traditional expression of cultural and tourism significance, connected with local identity and the sustainable economic development of the area. A 2025 ordinance also institutionalized it in the official event calendar of the Yaután District. Exact dates and program details may vary from year to year, so check the information for your intended visit before traveling.

Location and Vacation Rental

Route AN-660 leads from the junction with road PE-14 to Casa Blanca. A 2022 route description also mentions a drivable road off the Casma–Huaraz road at Casa Blanca that runs 1.8 km toward Río Grande to Cantera Marga y Pecos.

When searching for a vacation rental, you can first decide what you want to focus on: Casa Blanca itself or the Vendimia event in Cachipampa. If the festival is the deciding factor, plan your travel dates around that year’s event and take into account both the venue and the varying dates.
