Medellín is a city of very different urban spaces: central squares and parks stand alongside botanical collections, museums and places to relax. When choosing your holiday apartment, it is worth first considering which experiences you want to shape your stay. The location details for individual destinations provide specific points of reference, without all the experiences being in one place.

Central landmarks and different parts of the city

Plaza Botero is in central Medellín, on Avenida Carabobo in Plazuela Nutibara. The Parque Berrío station on Metro Medellín’s Line A is just a few metres away. This is a precise point of reference if you want to take a central square and a nearby metro station into account when choosing where to stay.

Parque de los Pies Descalzos is also right in the city centre. The Museo del Agua EPM is located in the park, opposite the Edificio Inteligente EPM. Parque Explora is in a different part of the city: it is in Medellín’s Zona Norte. Cerro El Volador is in Comuna 7, Robledo, in the central-western part of the city. If you have several destinations in mind, you can factor in these different location details when choosing where to stay, rather than treating Medellín as one single area of attractions.

Botanical collections and urban nature

The Jardín Botánico de Medellín covers 13.2 hectares. More than 2,000 individual plants grow there, and its collections represent species from different regions of Colombia. The garden includes the Orquideorama, the Bosque Andino, the Casa de las Mariposas and the Sendero de Plantas Prehistóricas. These names give the visit a range of themes, from plant collections and woodland to butterflies and prehistoric plants.

Parque de los Deseos offers a different kind of urban experience: it is a place to relax and enjoy passive leisure in the middle of the city. Botanical discoveries and peaceful recreation thus appeal to different interests.

City history, architecture and music

On Cerro Nutibara, the Museo de Ciudad explores Medellín’s development and other urban topics. Its permanent exhibition includes the Instrumento de Pensamiento Urbano, a scale model of the city that provides a comprehensive overview of its size and layout. Temporary exhibitions on art, photography, architecture and other subjects reflect different stages and developments in the city. The model and changing exhibition themes therefore offer different perspectives on Medellín’s urban development.

The Museo El Castillo also has a distinctive architectural history: it was built in 1930, modelled on the castles of France’s Loire Valley. Large cypress gardens surround the building; the cypresses came from Villa Adriana in Italy. For travellers interested in culture, this background offers a different perspective from the urban development explored at the Museo de Ciudad.

The Casa de la Música offers another glimpse into Medellín’s cultural life. It provides local and international artists with free opportunities for training, making music together and rehearsing.

Flavours of Medellín

The food on offer at Pueblito Paisa includes Bandeja Paisa, Guarapo and Mazamorra. Mazamorra is a corn preparation usually served with milk. This selection is specific to what is offered at this location; individual vendors may change. If food is one of your travel interests, you can consider Pueblito Paisa as a distinct culinary highlight.

Whether you prioritise central landmarks, botanical collections, city history or culinary experiences when choosing your holiday apartment, Medellín’s named places represent different themes and locations.
