Restinga Seca
Accommodation in Restinga Seca
Restinga Seca brings together a historic railway station and a cultural tourism route with geological sites in the surrounding area. This lets you choose different focuses for your trip: local history, events, or landforms. When choosing a place to stay, it is also worth considering the location of individual attractions.
Railway station, cultural route, and local history
Estação Férrea is a historic site in the municipality and has been fully revitalized. It became the economic center around which the settlement of Restinga Sêca grew. The railway station is therefore a tangible starting point for exploring the town’s development—not just a name on a map.
The tourist route “Nos Trilhos do Tempo” begins at Estação Férrea and leads through the municipal seat. It passes Igreja Matriz Sagrado Coração de Jesus and includes a handicrafts fair at Prédio Dr. Miguel De Patta. Those interested in culture and local history will find a clearly defined framework for exploring the municipal seat along this route. It brings together the local history of a religious site, handicrafts, and the history of the railway station.
Paróquia do Sagrado Coração de Jesus was founded on August 28, 1938. Events held at Estação Férrea include Brick da Estação.
Geological sites and nearby attractions
Buraco Fundo, an erosion-formed geological formation and a geosite of regional significance, lies near Restinga Sêca. Fazenda dos Meios is also a geodiversity site. On this private property are outcrops with irregular rock surfaces and small embankments no more than 2 meters high. These details illustrate the difference between a geological formation and a site with visible rock surfaces, without suggesting that the two places form a single route.
Access to Fazenda dos Meios is via an unpaved road leading from the locality of Arroio do Só toward Restinga Sêca. The property’s private status and the type of access road are therefore relevant details if you plan to include this site in your outings. The Ruins Bridge in the locality of Passo do Jacuí is in another notable location: it stands on the banks of the Rio Jacuí, on the border between Restinga Sêca and Cachoeira do Sul. This lets you distinguish between geological features and a historic structure in a border location when choosing your destinations.
Thermal waters and location on the Rio Vacacaí
Termas Romanas in Recanto Maestro, Restinga Sêca, includes a thermal park covering about 150 hectares. Facilities include six pools—four warm and two cold—as well as nine hydromassage ofurôs. The spring water emerges at 42 °C and is kept at above 38 °C in the indoor and outdoor pools.
Balneário das Tunas is located at Passo das Tunas on the Rio Vacacaí, 12 km from downtown Restinga Sêca. It is accessible via a paved road and lies on the border with the municipality of Formigueiro. Its location is therefore clearly distinct from a stay in the town center.
Events as cultural examples
ExpoRestinga, the fair’s eighth edition, was held in Restinga Sêca from March 19 to 22, 2026. Another event example is the fourth Feira Multicultural, held from August 20 to 22 at the Centro de Eventos in Restinga Sêca. The three-day event included activities related to literature, education, culture, and the promotion of local talent.
