Culture and the Erva-Mate Tradition
In the city center of Coronel Bicaco, Paróquia Santo Antônio is highlighted as a place worth seeing for its altar paintings. Paróquia Santo Antônio de Pádua was founded on January 20, 1967. Gaucho culture also has a clear connection to the town: CTG Tropeiros de Campo Santo promotes it through artistic and cultural events. The CTG was founded on December 15, 1972, in the municipality of Coronel Bicaco in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The CTG has six artistic groups with approximately 100 members; the number of groups and membership may change. Erva-Mate is the municipality's symbolic tree. In connection with the first FENAMATE, Coronel Bicaco was given the title “National Capital of Erva-Mate.” The first FENAMATE (National Erva-Mate Fair) was held in September 1982. This brings together cultural activities and a tangible historical link to the Erva-Mate tradition.
Statue, Waterfall, and Green Spaces
The Cristo Fé statue stands within the municipality. It is approximately as tall as a seven-story building and was inaugurated on November 19, 2022. Visits are offered free of charge. As access rules may change, confirm access locally before you travel.
