In Uberlândia, nature experiences and cultural history go hand in hand: At Parque do Sabiá, the lake and cycling track are among the attractions, while parks and museums offer insights into the Cerrado and the municipality’s history. This lets you shape your stay around different interests—with time outdoors, exhibitions or cultural venues.

Lake and cycling track at Parque do Sabiá

A large artificial lake is a defining feature of Parque do Sabiá. Visitors can ride pedal boats there and take in the scenery from a deck; there are also several smaller lakes. This combines an activity on the water with a more relaxed view of the surroundings. If you’d like to alternate between active and restful moments during your trip, the park offers several ways to do so.

A wide cycling track is available at Parque do Sabiá from Monday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. These hours provide a concrete reference for planning your day if you’d like to use the track. If you’re traveling with children, you can consider a range of activities to enjoy together: a pedal-boat ride, the view from the deck and—during the stated hours—the cycling track. No specific route length or riding time is implied.

Cerrado vegetation and nature watching

At Parque Municipal Victório Siquierolli, you’ll encounter typical Cerrado vegetation. The trees mentioned there include Pequi, Ingá, Sucupira, Copaíba, Araticum and Pau-Ferro. The park has paths for visitors to use and facilities for recreation, nature watching and environmental education. This offers a different kind of nature experience from the water activities at Parque do Sabiá: here, the focus is on paths, plants and observing nature.

The grounds also include Cantinho das Abelhas and a Monjolo as part of Casinha de Sapê. If you enjoy taking a closer look, you can make these specific places part of your visit to the park. The permanent exhibition at the Museu de Biodiversidade do Cerrado presents technical and scientific information about the Cerrado’s fauna and ecology and raises awareness about protecting this ecosystem. So the nature theme encompasses not only plants and paths but also wildlife and ecological connections.

Places of culture and history

Mercado Municipal de Uberlândia is not just a market building; it is also a protected municipal historic heritage site. Law No. 8.130 of 29/10/2002 protects the building complex, its stone paving and the Figueira Branca tree. The protection is registered in Livro do Tombo Histórico under entry VII on page 09. At the same time, Mercado serves as a venue for music shows, theater performances, film screenings, visual art exhibitions and performances. It is considered a cultural reference point for Uberlândia and the region, and is increasingly frequented.

Museu Municipal de Uberlândia is located in Palácio dos Leões. Cypriano Del Fávero built the building between 1916 and 1917; it was protected as municipal historic heritage in 1985. Since 2000, the museum has presented the permanent exhibition “Nossas Raízes.” It covers the founding of the municipality of Uberlândia: from the establishment of the first Sesmarias to the formation of Arraial de São Pedro de Uberabinha around Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo. The museum’s headquarters are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Centro Municipal de Cultura also brings together contemporary cultural offerings and a building’s history. Located at Praça Jacy de Assis, it includes a library, a rehearsal room, a small theater, an art gallery and an area for various events. It occupies the former Fórum de Uberlândia building, inaugurated in 1977 according to the basic principles of Brutalist architecture. It was designed by Roberto Pinto Monata and José Carlos Laender de Castro; in 2018, the Tribunal de Justiça de Minas Gerais transferred it to the city under an agreement.

Combine experiences with trip planning

Choosing activities can help you decide what to focus on during your stay: Would you like to spend time by the water, follow paths through Cerrado vegetation, or explore local history and culture? These preferences can help guide your search for a vacation rental, without assuming that a single neighborhood will suit every interest equally well. Consider which experiences matter most for your trip and tailor your search accordingly.

All public transit buses in Uberlândia are equipped with lifts and adapted interior layouts. If you’re including public transit in your mobility planning, this information can be a helpful point of reference. You can consider the layout of your stay and the activities you prefer together.
