Discover Minduri
Accommodation in Minduri
Minduri becomes tangible through its specific access routes, the highlands within its territory, and its protected historic sites. Routes to Chapada das Perdizes and Cachoeira do Quebra-Chifre are described in different ways; Árvore de Óleo also offers visitors an elevated view of the city and the northern highlands. Here, landscapes, trip planning, and the municipality’s historical heritage come together.
Highland Landscapes and Views
At the municipal level, Minduri’s northern mountainous area forms part of the Planalto Compartimentado da Serra da Mantiqueira; most of the region lies on the Planalto de Cruzília. The two names refer to different geographic areas: the reference to Serra da Mantiqueira applies specifically to the northern mountainous area, while the reference to Planalto de Cruzília applies to most of the region.
Within the municipality of Minduri, Árvore de Óleo offers visitors a privileged view from its elevated location over the city of Minduri and the Planalto Compartimentado da Serra da Mantiqueira to the north of the municipality.
Routes to Chapada and the Waterfalls
Minduri is served by the BR-383. The route to Chapada das Perdizes begins in the center of Minduri, on the road to Carrancas; after one kilometer, turn right. Cachoeiras da Prata can also be reached from Minduri via the route to Chapada. The one-kilometer distance refers to the distance to the turnoff, not the total route length.
To reach Cachoeira do Quebra-Chifre, travel from Minduri toward São Vicente. After five kilometers, turn left; 300 meters farther on, turn left again, then continue via Fazenda do Monjolinho. The route to the waterfall is approximately twelve kilometers long. This description therefore differs from the one for Chapada: it specifies several turns and an approximate total distance. Check road conditions before setting out; you should also check the signs again on the way to the waterfall.
When planning your accommodation, consider this specific question: Are you focusing on the route to Chapada that begins in the center, or on the route toward São Vicente? These different starting points can help you organize your outings and choose a vacation rental in Minduri to suit your plans.
Protected Sites in the Municipality
Minduri’s historical and cultural heritage includes two sites protected on the same day. Casa da Estação Ferroviária was protected on May 5, 2005, by Municipal Decree No. 798. On the same day, Paredão da Avenida Getúlio Vargas was protected by Municipal Decree No. 799. The two protection orders therefore date from the same day, but each names a separate monument and a separate decree.
Árvore de Óleo was protected earlier, in 2004, by Municipal Decree No. 670. The protection decision cites its historical, natural, and scenic value. The tree thus represents both a viewpoint over Minduri and the northern highlands and an explicitly protected part of the municipality’s heritage. Together with the two sites protected in 2005, it offers another way to explore Minduri’s history and landscape.
