Eringsboda: Lakes, Churches and Garden Culture
Accommodation in Eringsboda
Eringsboda combines lakes and fishing opportunities with a distinctive history of churches and garden parks. There are ten lakes in the area; around Togölen, there is a lit walking path. Those interested in culture will find a long history of the church and cemetery, as well as Nordensköldsparken. When planning your holiday, it is therefore worth first considering whether water, local history or both will shape your stay.
Lakes, fishing and the path around Togölen
Eringsboda has ten lakes where you can fish. If you want to plan your trip around water activities, this gives you a specific connection to nature in the area. One designated fishing area is Ljusterhövdens m. fl. sjöars fiskevårdsområde: it is located in the southern part of Eringsbodabygden and encompasses ten lakes with a total area of more than 300 hectares. This area figure refers to all ten lakes combined. So, for planning purposes, both Eringsboda’s lakes and the named fishing area provide useful points of reference.
Togölen is centrally located in Eringsboda. A lit walking path runs around the lake, offering another way to combine your stay with time outdoors. Parking is available at Färgaregården and by the old shop. If lighting or parking is important to your plans, check the details again before your visit. The lakes and the walking path offer different attractions: fishing may be the deciding factor in one case, a path around Togölen in another.
Church and cemetery: a long local history
Eringsboda Church was built in 1847–1849 to plans by J. A. Hawerman. It replaced an older wooden chapel with a wooden-shingle roof, dating from 1736–1738. The cemetery’s history also goes back to the 1730s, when the first chapel was built. This chronology gives the church building a specific historical context without confusing its different phases of construction.
The cemetery was an important meeting place in the 18th and 19th centuries. The church’s neoclassical exterior has remained unchanged since it was built. The construction period, the earlier chapel and the cemetery’s historical role thus offer different perspectives on the same place: architecture, development and community life in past centuries. If you enjoy exploring several facets of history when planning a trip, the cemetery and church are fitting subjects for a culturally focused stay.
Garden park and historical connection
Nordensköldsparken in Eringsboda is one of several rural garden parks maintained entirely by volunteers. The RonnebySlingor route connects this park with Svenmanska Park in Bräkne-Hoby. This adds another dimension to exploring the area beyond Eringsboda: the route links two named garden parks in different places.
Karlskronavägen, Route 122, is also a useful reference point in Eringsboda. The village lies along this road, which today follows a route that was once an important connection between Småland and Ronneby’s shipping port. Alongside nature and culture, the area’s historical connection to Ronneby can therefore also be part of your exploration.
When looking for holiday accommodation in Eringsboda, you can start with what you want to focus on: would you like to spend your days mainly enjoying the lakes and fishing, include the walking path around Togölen, or focus on the history of the church and garden parks? Togölen’s central location gives you a specific point of reference in the area; the other themes offer further perspectives on your stay. If you want to combine several interests, you can take them all into account when choosing where to stay.
