Afipsky particularly appeals to travelers who want to get to know the place through its cultural history and remembrance. The House of Culture offers a program of workshops, exhibitions, concerts, and performances. Church and memorial history add further points of interest and refer to different periods. When planning your trip, you can therefore consider whether you are more interested in attending an event or exploring historical topics.

Events at the House of Culture

Workshops, exhibitions, concerts, and performances take place at the Afipskiy House of Culture. It was founded in 1973. The events cover a range of themes: workshops, exhibitions, and music and stage events offer different ways to engage with the cultural program. The founding year is also a historical point of reference in its own right. If you plan to travel to Afipsky for a particular concert or performance, check the date in advance, as individual event dates may change.

Church history from 1867 to 2015

The first wooden church was built in 1867 in the stanitsa of Georgie-Afipskaya. The new Church of St. George the Victorious in Afipskiy was completed and consecrated in November 2015. The two dates mark different moments in the history of the church: the early church building in the stanitsa, and the completion and consecration of the new church. The church also houses a reliquary containing fragments of the relics of Saint Alexander Fleginsky, a hieromartyr. The reliquary is always available to the faithful. Alongside the historical dates of construction, the local points of interest therefore include the reliquary’s religious significance and its importance to the faithful.

Places of remembrance

The “Eternal Flame” sculptural memorial in Afipskiy dates from 1978. A monument to Afipskiy residents who fell in the Great Patriotic War was erected in 2007. Afipskiy is also home to a military cemetery for 697 Soviet soldiers who died in 1943 fighting the fascist occupiers. These details identify different points of remembrance: the date a memorial was created, the fallen residents, and the specific year the soldiers died. This makes it possible to distinguish 1943, the historical reference point for the cemetery, from the creation years of the other two places of remembrance.

Plan your trip to Afipsky

When looking for a holiday rental in Afipsky, you can plan your stay around your interests. If a particular performance or concert is the reason for your trip, its date will be important for your plans; check it in advance. If you are more interested in church and remembrance history, the different dates and commemorative themes can help guide your visit. This gives you two different ways to plan your trip: a stay linked to a specific cultural event, or one focused on the history of the place.
