In Seversky District, striking natural landmarks meet mountains and archaeological history. The Natashkiny Waterfalls consist of two waterfalls; Mount Sober-Bash stands out for its trapezoidal shape. When planning your trip, you can focus on waterfalls, mountain scenery, winter activities or historic sites. If you are looking for a holiday rental, first choose the themes that will shape your trip.

Waterfalls and Striking Landscapes

The regionally significant natural landmark of the Natashkiny Waterfalls comprises a lower and an upper waterfall. The lower Natashkiny Waterfall is about 16 to 17 metres high and has seven tiers; the upper one is approximately seven metres high and has one tier. The two falls therefore differ both in height and in the number of tiers. The natural landmark is also home to pinnate bladdernut, which is listed in the Red Data Books of the Russian Federation and Krasnodar Region.

Mount Sober-Bash is a 735.8-metre-high, trapezoidal massif between the Afips and Ubinka rivers. It lies southwest of Krasnodar and is visible from there. In winter, its slopes offer opportunities for skiing. Sober-Bash is also home to the two large waterfalls “Muzhskie slyozy” and “Utayenny”, as well as about nine smaller waterfalls. The Natashkiny Falls differ in height and number of tiers; Sober-Bash has two large waterfalls and about nine smaller ones.

Other natural and historic landmarks in Seversky District include Daryin Waterfall, Mount Mitridat, the Zaporozhye Springs and Upper-Afipskoye Lake, “Loch Ness”. They also include the Yellow Monasteries and the mountains Krepost, Papay and Sober-Oashkh. The selection thus encompasses waterfalls, springs, a lake and several mountains, as well as historic landmarks.

Prehistory, Route and Orientation

An early human Paleolithic site is located in the settlement of Ilsky in Seversky District. Thus, alongside landscapes and natural landmarks, prehistory is another distinct theme to consider when planning a trip to the area.

The Great Kuban Trail is described as a scenic four-day route through Seversky District and the city of Goryachy Klyuch. Its duration offers a different scale for planning than individual named natural and historic sites: the focus here is on a multi-day route, while there it is on a specific landscape feature or archaeological site.

The Pavlovskaya–Novorossiysk highway and the Krasnodar–Novorossiysk railway line pass through Seversky District. Both routes provide a sense of the district’s geography. When choosing a holiday rental, you can separately consider which of the landscapes, activities or historic themes described will shape your trip.
