Who is making holiday in Russia will surely see land and people itself as a sight seeing, because the cultural and economical differences to the rest of the European continent can be seen immediately.

St. Petersburg still exudes the grandeur and magnificence that Russia had during the tsar reign. St. Petersburg in its existence testifies what beauty can a human create. In the centre of 300 years’ old city you will find the beautiful Peter and Paul Fortress. You will also find the Hermitage on the Neva River bank. It is here the huge art collection is kept. You will also see the Winter Palace - the former residence of the Russian czars. Even in surrounding areas you will find many beautiful Tsar residences, especially Tsarskoye Selo where the amber room can be admired.

Moscow offers a little bit another view of Russia. Many tourists want to visit Kremlin “right from the station”. An underground ride offers a social panorama which shows, from the one hand, a typical city life, and from the other hand, typical Russian life. Nowhere in the world you will see so much poverty and neglect, grace and beauty, alcoholism and aggression within one country.

Those who want to know a little bit more about Russia, shouldn’t be afraid of the local transport. A ride in a “elektrichka” (a kind of a regional express) on the way to a summer house or cottage located in the country is a real experience for tourists. While on holidays in Russia, you shouldn’t forget about vodka and cucumber, too!
