Comuna Tulnici: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Along the Putna River, the region is known as “Zona Turistica Tulnici-Lepșa-Gresu”. The administrative territory of Comuna Tulnici is home to Cascada Putnei, a nationally significant protected area near the village of Lepșa.

Nature

Cascada Putnei has a 76-metre waterfall, a vertical drop of 14 metres and a lake approximately 12 metres deep. It was declared a natural monument in 1973.

Cheile Tișiței is a 2,726-hectare nature reserve established in 1973. The peaks of Vârful Mociarului, Piatra Ciuta, Locoțeilor and Piscul Câinelui are located in the vicinity of Comuna Tulnici.

Groapa cu Pini is a nature reserve designated under Romanian Law No. 5/2000. It preserves palaeontological and landscape features in the upper reaches of the Pârâul Coza.

Getting Around

An admission ticket is required to visit the Tișița and Cascada Putnei integral protection zones. The Tișița integral protection zone may only be visited via marked hiking trails. The route through Cheile Tișiței is closed in winter due to the risk of avalanches.

Cascada Putnei can be reached via the DN 2D national road and a roadside sign pointing towards Târgu Secuiesc. Groapa cu Pini can be reached from Coza via a red-band-marked hiking trail through Stramtura Coza, followed by an unmarked path.

Culture

The Mânăstirea Lepşa Monastery is located in the vicinity of Comuna Tulnici on the banks of the Putna River. Its main church is dedicated to the Nativity of the Mother of God; the history of monasticism at Lepșa Monastery began around 1774.

The churches Biserica Ortodoxă Coza, Biserica Ortodoxă Dragosloveni and Biserica Ortodoxă Greşu are located in the vicinity of Comuna Tulnici. The “Sfântul Ioan Botezătorul” Church in the village of Coza is classified as a local historic monument and was built in 1873. The Lepșa trout farm opened in 1955.

Local Cuisine

At the “La Moise” Punct Gastronomic Local, ripe tomatoes, aromatic onions, crisp cucumbers, fresh chicken eggs and all kinds of vegetables from its own garden are turned into dishes. Mariș Ileana prepares fresh homemade dishes there every day as a set menu.
