Comuna Baia is located on the left bank of the Moldova River. In the centre of Comuna Baia are the ruins of the Catedrala Catolică din Baia; part of the western tower, remnants of the walls and Gothic stone surrounds have been preserved. The Biserica Albă also stands in the centre.

Culture
The History and Ethnography Museum of Baia was founded in 1999 on the initiative of the municipality. It is housed in a 19th-century town hall building constructed during the time of Alexandru Ioan Cuza. The museum displays prehistoric objects from various periods.
The “Cetățuia” archaeological site near Baia dates from the Bronze Age and the Neolithic period and is located 2 km southwest of the settlement. Tools and weapons made of stone, flint, marl and obsidian, as well as a dwelling, have been preserved there.
The Baia–În Muchie archaeological site lies at an altitude of 375 metres on the first floodable terrace of the Moldova River, between Șomuzul Mocirlos and Șomuzul Mare. Vessels from the Precucuteni period found in the “În Muchie” area near Baia are more than 7,000 years old and attest to traces of human civilisation dating from 5,200 to 5,100 BC.
According to local tradition, the Biserica Albă is attributed to Ștefan cel Mare; he is said to have built it in memory of his victory over the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus in 1467. The Biserica Albă is built of unworked and hewn stone; its walls are 1.8 to 2 metres thick.
The Biserica “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” was founded by Petru Rareş in 1532. It is built of stone and bricks on a rectangular plan without a tower.
In the wider surrounding region of Comuna Baia are Mânăstirea Secu and Schitul Sâhăstria as monasteries, Biserica Sfântul Dumitru as a church, and Voroneţ Monastery.

Dealul Bogata is a hill in the immediate vicinity of Comuna Baia. Dealul Bogatei and Dealul Spătăreşti are hills in the area surrounding Comuna Baia. In the wider surrounding region of Comuna Baia is the mountain Muntele Bivolul.
The Baia–Cetățuie archaeological site is partly covered by beech and hornbeam forest.
Events
The “Baia – File de istorie” festival is a scholarly and cultural-arts tribute to Baia’s legendary past. Each edition of the festival includes a symposium on historical topics.
“Hora de la Baia” is a cultural event promoting authentic local customs and traditions, as well as Moldavian folk costume and folk dances. It includes exhibitions of traditional art and a parade of regional folk costumes.
