Audrehem: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Audrehem is one of the villages in the Hem Valley, where there are some beautiful hiking trails. One specific example is La Ligne d’Anvin, an easy circular hiking trail starting in Audrehem, covering 8.7 km and taking approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Hiking and Landscape

La Ligne d’Anvin offers panoramic views of the upper Hem Valley from Mont d’Audrehem. The hiking trail also crosses the former local Anvin–Calais railway line. For decades, this railway ran through Audrehem and Bonningues-les-Ardres; a station in the centre of Bonningues enabled residents to travel along this route.

Nature

Les Monts d’Audrehem form a type 1 continental ZNIEFF area. The area includes partially grazed, calcareous grassland and shrub vegetation on chalk slopes.

Three characteristic butterfly species, including the Hespérie du chiendent, as well as one characteristic reptile species, the adder, have been recorded in the Les Monts d’Audrehem area.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Médard is a three-nave church; its current building dates from 1650. The choir contains two polychrome wooden statues of bishop saints, one of which is known as Saint Maxime.

The ensemble consisting of the altarpiece of the Marian altar, the tabernacle and two altar pedestals dates from the first quarter of the 19th century. The altarpiece of the Marian altar is made of white-painted wood and has four columns with Composite capitals finished in imitation marble and gold.
