History and Buildings

The Beaunant Siphon Bridge of the Gier Aqueduct is located in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon at the Yzeron siphon. The siphon bridge of the Beaunant Aqueduct has 30 arches. At the Maison de l’Aqueduc, a model shows the siphon bridge of the Gier Aqueduct; information panels also explain the four aqueducts that supplied Lugdunum.

Fort de Sainte Foy was built between 1830 and 1840. It is part of the so-called small belt of fortifications, which was intended to enclose the fortifications of Fourvière.

The first two levels of the Tour Relais Chappe have been converted into a museum. The tower belonged to Claude Chappe’s optical telegraph network on the Paris–Lyon–Toulon route.

Cultural Sites

The Thien Minh Pagoda is a Buddhist temple in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon. By prior appointment, it offers guided tours with an introduction to meditation. The gardens open to visitors at Thien Minh Pagoda include Japanese cherry trees and lotus flowers.
