At Mont Brouilly, the landscape blends with regional wine-making tradition. On the summit of Brouilly Hill, at an altitude of 483 m, stands the 19th-century Notre-Dame-des-Raisins Chapel. It was dedicated to the Virgin Mary so that she would protect the vineyards from hail, frost and mildew. Since 1857, a well-known pilgrimage has taken place there every year on 8 September.

Nature and Trails

The Sentier des Bois is a 3 km-long botanical trail that reveals the plant life and landscape of Mont Brouilly. Mont Brouilly also has three walking trails ranging from 1.5 to 4 km in length, with an easy to moderate difficulty level. Interpretive trails with illustrated panels and imaginative sculptures complement the network of paths.

The Sentier Clos Vitis is a 4 km-long trail with three observation posts equipped with information panels and viewing markers. Clos Vitis is also a conservatory of the vine, its history and its many uses.

Panoramas and Activities

Mont Brouilly offers two panoramic viewpoints: one looks towards the Alps from a viewpoint equipped with an orientation table, while the other looks towards the Massif Central. Mont Brouilly has a geoscope explaining the geology of Beaujolais; the site is also recommended for stargazing.

The cycling micro-adventure tour at Mont Brouilly is classified as moderate and is listed as lasting 2 hours. One cycling route takes visitors to Mont Brouilly, into the land of blue stone. The cycling route of the “In the land of blue stone” micro-adventure tour also leads to Mont Brouilly, into the land of blue stone.

Wine and Tasting

The “Veni Vedi Vitis” experience explores the vine in all its forms – from its wild form to today’s grape varieties. The guided “Veni Vedi Vitis” tour is followed by a guided tasting at Espace des Brouilly.

The route includes a stop at Espace des Brouilly in Saint-Lager, a tasting room and shop for Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly wines from independent producers.

Those who choose Saint-Lager for their stay can rent a holiday apartment.
