Culture and History
In Villard-de-Lans, the Maison du Patrimoine museum presents the daily life of farming communities on the Vercors plateau at the beginning of the 20th century. The Maison du Patrimoine also covers the Resistance, climatism, the 1968 Olympic Games, road construction, as well as the beginnings of tourism and transport in the canton. Documents, photographs, craftsmen's tools and agricultural equipment illustrate daily life, agriculture and crafts in the late 19th century.
Valchevrière is a forest hamlet and a memorial site dedicated to the Resistance in the Vercors. The hamlet served as a camp for the Maquisards before becoming the scene of heavy fighting on 22 and 23 July 1944. On the descent towards the car park, visitors will find a work of art by Jacques Guichard at the edge of the forest.
In the wider surroundings of Villard-de-Lans lies Fort de Comboire, a fort. In the wider regional surroundings of Villard-de-Lans is the Artothèque de la Bibliothèque Grand'Place de Grenoble (closed), a closed museum. Also located in this wider regional area are the Musée de la Révolution Française, a museum, and the Château de Vizille, a château.

Activities
The Centre aqualudique Marcel Bonnard has indoor and outdoor areas with several pools, including a wave pool, slides and paddling pools. It welcomes local residents and holidaymakers all year round and organises activities focused on water, sport and recreation.
The Bois Barbu gateway provides access to 122 km of groomed trails for skating and classic cross-country skiing in the Haut Vercors Nordic area. Bois Barbu can be reached by shuttle from the centre of Villard-de-Lans.
The Patinoire André Ravix has an ice rink measuring 1,800 m² and offers public skating sessions for individuals and groups several times a week. The Luge Park de la Colline des Bains is one of the activities offered by Villard-de-Lans's municipal leisure centre.
The ViaVercors route from Villard-de-Lans to Corrençon passes through forests and fields near the former luge track of the 1968 Olympic Games and continues to Corrençon.
Landscape
Mont de Meillarot is a summit in the immediate surroundings of Villard-de-Lans. Roc Cornafion is also a nearby summit, while Rochers de l'Ours is considered a mountain there. Pic Saint-Michel is a summit in the vicinity of Villard-de-Lans.
