Culture and History

In Villard-de-Lans, the Maison du Patrimoine museum presents the daily life of farming communities on the Vercors plateau at the beginning of the 20th century. The Maison du Patrimoine also covers the Resistance, climatism, the 1968 Olympic Games, road construction, as well as the beginnings of tourism and transport in the canton. Documents, photographs, craftsmen's tools and agricultural equipment illustrate daily life, agriculture and crafts in the late 19th century.

Valchevrière is a forest hamlet and a memorial site dedicated to the Resistance in the Vercors. The hamlet served as a camp for the Maquisards before becoming the scene of heavy fighting on 22 and 23 July 1944. On the descent towards the car park, visitors will find a work of art by Jacques Guichard at the edge of the forest.

The ViaVercors route from Villard-de-Lans to Corrençon passes through forests and fields near the former luge track of the 1968 Olympic Games and continues to Corrençon.
