History and culture
The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste stands in the centre of Vaulnaveys-le-Haut and is mentioned in a papal bull confirmed on 20 March 1095. The Chapelle de Belmont was built in 1666 and is the only one of the five former chapels of Vaulnaveys-le-Haut that has survived to this day.
The Moulin de la ville has been documented since 1328 as one of six mills on the mountain streams Gorge and Vernon. The Site de Prémol is a meadow and woodland area in Vaulnaveys-le-Haut with the ruins of the former Chartreuse de Prémol. It was a convent for women founded in 1234 by Béatrice de Montferrat.
