One of Seyssins’ distinctive landscapes is the Colline de Comboire. It stretches across Claix and Seyssins and has been designated as a sensitive natural area (Espace Naturel Sensible) since 2017.
The Colline de Comboire offers views of the Grenoble valley and the surrounding mountain ranges. The natural area also provides refuge for tawny owls, peregrine falcons, European beavers and green toads.
Seyssins’ green landscapes include the Franges vertes. Their dry grasslands are home to a rich variety of wildlife, including orchids, butterflies and rabbits.
For some travel plans, the focus is on the desire to rent a holiday apartment in Seyssins.
Trails and Circular Routes
An intermunicipal cycle path connects the two banks of the Drac via the Passerelle du Rondeau. The Via du Tram is also available for hikers and cyclists: it is a sporting and cultural-historical route along the remains of the former tram line that once connected Grenoble with the Vercors plateau.
The Via du Tram is 38 kilometres long and has a total of 1,240 metres of elevation gain and descent. It can be completed by mountain bike, electric mountain bike or on foot.
The hike to Fort de Comboire can begin at the Pré-Nouvel eco-district; the route is signposted with yellow waymarkers. Another option is Histoire de la Plaine, a marked cultural-historical circular route open to everyone.
Culture and History
Fort de Comboire was the last fort built in the Grenoble area, between 1882 and 1885. In Seyssins, the Tour Saint-Ange is one of the town’s several fortified houses.
The Church of Saint-Martin preserves a basilica-style architectural form of Roman origin. Its capitals have been classified as historic monuments since 1908. Today’s Château Le Harivel du Rocher was built in 1613.
Since 2017, Seyssins and Seyssinet-Pariset have collaborated במסגרת the joint cultural programme Les Vagabondes. The annual Les Vagabondes season takes place, among other locations, in the Church of Saint-Martin, one of five venues.
