The trail passes through the forest and along viewing balconies in the mid-mountain area, bringing the exploitation of the iron-ore mines to life.
The La Chapelle Saint Christophe route is a difficult circular hiking trail, 8.4 kilometres long and lasting approximately three hours. It starts at the church of Saint-Pierre d'Allevard and passes through the local heritage and landscapes of the Belledonne Massif. The route then continues to the hamlet of La Chapelle Saint-Christophe, offering a remarkable view of the Bassin du Flumet.
History and Heritage
The church of Saint-Pierre d'Allevard has a very old foundation; its nave was rebuilt in the 19th century.
The Four à griller des anciennes forges d'Allevard is the last surviving remnant of thirty years of industrial activity in Saint-Pierre d'Allevard. It was built around 1905 and is one of the few examples of its type preserved in France.
