Saint-Alban-Du-Rhône: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
The former priory of Saint-Alban-Du-Rhône now houses the church, town hall and post office. It was built by the Church of Vienne towards the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century; around 1260, it passed into the possession of Saint-Pierre Abbey.
Culture
The church portal features a 12th-century relief depicting the Adoration of the Magi. It shows the three kings, led by a star, the seated Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus, and Joseph praying.
The church houses François Perrier’s painting “The Beheading of John the Baptist in the Prisons of Herod”, which is classified as a historic monument.
On the façade of Café Tallaron, a medieval relief depicts a bearded figure with clasped hands as a sign of prayer or supplication. Saint-Alban-Du-Rhône is also associated with a figure from the early history of cinema: Gabriel Veyre was a pioneer of the cinematograph and later a cameraman for the Lumière brothers, and lived in a house on Rue du Rhône.
Nature
The two waterways, the Rhône and the Varèze, flow through Saint-Alban-du-Rhône. The ViaRhôna passes by the old village of Saint-Alban-du-Rhône. It then continues along the Rhône riverbank beside the counter-channel, with a view of the Saint-Alban-du-Rhône power station.
