Sablons: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Art and History

On the banks of the Rhône in Sablons, art, river culture and paths through nature come together. Moly-Sabata has been an artists’ residence since 1927. The 18th-century building is located in the Fond de Sablons district of Sablons and was classified on 20 April 1964 as one of the 25 picturesque sites in the Isère département.

Throughout the year, Moly-Sabata provides studios and resources; its public profile is supported by an annual exhibition. Visitors are welcomed at Moly-Sabata by prior appointment.

Since 2008, Sablons has also been home to the sculpture Honorine, a work by visual artist Jeff Saint Pierre.

Rhône Riverbank and Water

The stone riverbank structure along the quays of Sablons is 1,200 metres long and can be more than 5 metres high; it protects the village from flooding by the Rhône. The riverfront development includes small squares, an island and boat ramps.

Nautical jousting remains part of Sablons’ heritage connected with the Rhône. Sablons and Serrières have produced French champions of this discipline in every generation.

The nautical centre in Sablons is open and free of charge all year round. It is a landscaped facility on the Rhône riverbank with a picnic area. A nautical society trains there for boat sports and competitions.

Nature and Cycle Path

Nearby, between Saint-Pierre-de-Bœuf and Sablons, lies the Réserve naturelle de l'île de la Platière nature reserve. It features signposted discovery trails, a chain ferry to the island and a birdwatching area.

The ViaRhôna stage to Sablons runs entirely along a landscaped path, except at the entrance to Sablons.
