Roybon: Apartments and Holiday Homes
A prominent landmark in Roybon is the Statue of Liberty on Place Saint Romme. It symbolises freedom of opinion, freedom of association, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion. The cultural trail “De mémoire de galets” was created so that visitors can discover the village of Roybon. The “Parcours de mémoire de galets” trail leads to the Statue of Liberty, the Eglise Saint Jean-Baptiste and the Monument Saint Romme.
Culture and History
Mathias Saint Romme donated the Statue of Liberty to Roybon; it had been left to him by his friend Bartholdi. The Eglise Saint Jean-Baptiste is a Neo-Romanesque building with exterior elements influenced by Auvergnat Romanesque architecture; it can only be viewed from the outside. The Monastère Notre-Dame du sacré coeur de Chambarand was built in 1868 by monks from the Cistercian Abbey of Notre Dame de Sept-Fons. The church of the Monastère Notre-Dame du sacré coeur de Chambarand is open to everyone exclusively during service times.

Trails and Landscape
“Roybon: Crêtes et combes de Chambaran” is a 17.7-kilometre circular hike. The route passes through forests, meadows, valley hollows and ridges; it offers views of the Vercors massif to the south. “Les hauts de Roybon - VTT” is a 13.3-kilometre mountain-biking circuit. Numerous hiking, mountain-biking and horse-riding trails start in Roybon.
Nature and Water
The Roybon area contains wetlands, remarkable natural areas and peat bogs; numerous signs of fauna and flora can be found there. The area is considered rural, close to nature and well-preserved. Lac de Roybon has fishing facilities, including a fishing pier suitable for people with reduced mobility and a shared fishing area. The leisure area at Lac de Roybon includes landscaped beaches, playgrounds and picnic areas. Swimming without supervision is permitted at Lac de Roybon.
Village Life and Getting There
The Parcours des Talents is a craft market held every summer in the village streets, which are closed to cars for the occasion. The Randonnée du Muguet takes place every year on 1 May and offers hiking and mountain-biking routes through the forests of Chambaran, with almost 1,000 participants. The “pâtes des Loives” are sold directly at the farm every Saturday morning.
Roybon can be reached from the north via Saint-Siméon-de-Bressieux and the Bièvre transport corridor, and from the east via Saint-Marcellin and the Grenoble–Valence motorway link. Outside school transport services, Roybon is served by bus route T63, which runs to Saint-Marcellin.
