Romagnieu: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Romagnieu combines water-based activities, natural areas and local history. Those who have chosen Romagnieu as their destination will want to rent a holiday apartment there.

Water and leisure

O’lac in Romagnieu offers supervised swimming from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., a landscaped beach, water play areas and a diving tower.

At O’lac, stand-up paddleboards and pedal boats can each be hired for €8 per 30 minutes. Rosalies are available for tours around the lake at €8 per 30 minutes. Mini-golf costs €4 per course and person; a tennis court and equipment are available for €10 per hour for two people.

Nature

Étang des Nénuphars is a natural area of approximately 14 hectares located in the immediate vicinity of Romagnieu town centre.

Since 2003, Étang des Nénuphars has been included in the Isère department’s ENS network. The area is open every day year-round and access is free.

Étang des Nénuphars provides a habitat for Vertigo Des Moulins, which is threatened with extinction in Europe. The snail lives there in Carex clumps and in the surrounding waters.

History and culture

Les Forges de la Massotte is a former shovel factory that has now been converted into an inn.

The church of Romagnieu dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries.

The so-called Dauphinois houses are part of the local cultural heritage. They are characterised by thick rammed-earth walls and hipped roofs covered with scale tiles.

Chapelle Saint Hilaire d’Avaux is a former medieval church dating from before the 12th century. It is surrounded by an old cemetery and houses listed objects.

For groups of 5 to 20 people, Chapelle Saint Hilaire d’Avaux offers guided tours year-round by prior reservation. The tours last one hour.

Paths and local history

The GR 65, the Way of Saint James of Compostela, passes through the municipalities of Aoste, Romagnieu and Les Abrets en Dauphiné into Isère, and continues via Saint-Ondras and Valencogne.

The Tour du château Gouvy is mentioned in Romagnieu’s local walking and hiking information.

In Boutey, worked limestone blocks survive as the foundations of a bridge that connected Augustum (Aoste) with Lemencum (Chambéry). These blocks are particularly visible when water levels are low.
