Porcieu-Amblagnieu: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature

The municipal forest of Porcieu-Amblagnieu covers more than 100 hectares between Amblagnieu and Serverin, extending as far as Aunou farm. The Cascade de Charette waterfall on the Furon plunges down towards Porcieu.

History and Architectural Heritage

The quarrying of limestone in Porcieu-Amblagnieu grew rapidly from around 1820 onwards. In the 19th century, the municipality had 20 companies and 50 quarries associated with this activity.

The Église d’Amblagnieu consists of a nave, a choir and five chapels; its square bell tower is fitted with twin windows. The Église de Porcieu was completed in 1867 in the Gothic Revival style and is known for its original appearance and slender spire.

The Roman archaeological site of La Serre was discovered during the construction of the inlet canal for the Villebois dam. The Jardin des simples, created in 2009, contains more than 100 medicinal plants used in folk medicine.

Culture and Activities

The Espace Eau Vive de l’Isle de la Serre offers rafting, hydrospeed, kayaking, canorafting and packrafting on a secured artificial river.

The Salle des Marinières offers an extensive cultural programme throughout the year, with concerts, performances and stand-up events. The paved ViaRhôna cycle route runs through Porcieu-Amblagnieu along the Rhône.
