Optevoz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Optevoz is home to the ENS de l’étang de Lemps, a sensitive natural area representative of the wetlands of northern Isère. Its wildlife includes the endangered European pond turtle. The educational trail at the Étang de Lemps in Optevoz features nine educational stations and leads through a preserved wetland.

The two discovery walks through the municipality of Optevoz’s Sensitive Natural Areas start at the car park of the Auberge des Peintres in the town centre. At the Étang de Lemps, the Parcours d’orientation de l’étang de Lemps complements the offering: the 3.6 km orienteering course has eight stations and introduces visitors to the flora and fauna of the Sensitive Natural Area at the Étang de Lemps.

Culture and History

Optevoz is stop 5 on the Route des Peintres, a road route linking places associated with around 100 artists. The Auberge des Peintres houses a permanent exhibition tracing Optevoz’s artistically flourishing period.

The Church of Saint-Symphorien dates from the 19th century and is listed in the General Inventory of French Cultural Heritage. The washhouse in Optevoz was built in 1873 and has a large roof structure supporting a stone-slab roof. The Moulin des Gobilles, also known as Moulin d’Ollier, dates from the first half of the 17th century.

The Mont d’Annoisin mountain is located in the vicinity of Optevoz. The Chapelle de Marcilleux, a church, is also located nearby.

The wider region around Optevoz is home to the Chartreuse Notre-Dame de Portes, a monastery, and the Château de Césarges, a castle. The Mont d’Argironne, Crêt de Pont and Mont Falcon mountains, as well as the Château des Allymes, a castle, are also located there.
