Above the Liers Valley, the old fortification of Bocsozel stands on a largely open promontory. Its castle mound and the terraces of the lower bailey still shape the landscape today.

Hiking

The “Bièvre Isère - Le Mont d'Avalon” circular trail has two possible starting points: Mottier Town Hall and the Notre-Dame-du-Mont chapel in Gillonnay.

The signposted “Sentier médiéval de Bocsozel” trail leads towards Mottier, reaches the “le Mottier-Bocsozel” crossroads at an altitude of 524 metres and includes a short detour to the nearby ruins of Château de Bocsozel.
