In Moirans, a medieval tower is the only surviving element of the former castle. It stands on a section of a medieval town wall dating from the 13th or 14th century.

History and Architectural Heritage
The Parc de la Grille is a French formal garden. It was designed by Maximilien Ernest Curten, a student of Le Nôtre, the gardener of Versailles, and laid out in 1720–1721 by Claude Paris La Montagne. The park’s gate and the steps of the water basin have been listed in the inventory of historic monuments since 1927.
The Église prieurale Saint-Pierre was founded at the beginning of the 11th century and is one of the oldest priories in the Dauphiné. The church contains stained-glass windows signed by Arcabas. In 2002, the département carried out planned archaeological excavations at the Église Saint-Pierre, which provided considerable information about the site.
The Circuit historique de Moirans is a walking tour where visitors can discover the town’s heritage through remains from antiquity and the Middle Ages. It takes visitors through the history of Moirans: from the Gallo-Roman period, when the town was called Morginum and was crossed by a Roman road, to the Industrial Revolution.
Nature and Trails
The wetlands known as the isles of Moirans are considered an oasis of greenery and biodiversity.
Parc du Vergeron is a wooded and landscaped park. A footbridge connects it to Parc aux Iles, allowing walkers and people exercising to move between the two parks peacefully. Parc du Vergeron is open daily year-round free of charge.
Local Life
Moirans’ traditional market takes place on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon at place de l’Assemblée Départementale, in front of the town hall. More than 34 mobile vendors, including 27 regular subscribers, mainly offer food products there: fish, fruit and vegetables, producers’ goods, cheese, grilled dishes and prepared meals, artisan bread, meat and sausages, handmade pasta and delicatessen products, as well as eggs and honey.

Moirans has a historic trail with 14 stages. It presents the development of the town’s neighbourhoods, its inhabitants and its notable sites over time. Moirans’ main railway station is located on the Grenoble–Lyon railway line.
