At the Notre-Dame du Château site, the visible remains of a wooden motte-and-bailey castle, probably built in the second half of the 11th century, have been preserved. Notre-Dame du Château offers panoramic views of the western massif of the Grande Chartreuse and the final foothills of the Épine range. From 1 January 2026 to 1 December 2026, Notre-Dame du Château is open daily and free to access.

Culture and History
The Chapelle de l’Alumnat was built by the Assumptionists at the end of the 19th century and has an organ. It was part of a larger building complex with a former seminary, which the Assumptionists used and expanded between 1884 and 1970.
The church of Miribel is a Neo-Romanesque limestone building constructed between 1876 and 1880. The Chapelle Saint Roch remains a place of worship maintained by the municipality and volunteers. It was built to thank Saint Roch for sparing Miribel during the plague of 1628 to 1630. A so-called Rogation Mass is held there on the Tuesday evening before Ascension Day, during which prayers are offered for the protection of the land and crops.
The Pont de Pierre-Chave was built under Napoleon III. In some sections it spans the road, while elsewhere it carries the road, creating an extremely rare type of road construction.
Nature and Hiking
“En passant par la Grotte du Loup” is a 4.6-kilometre circular hike starting from Miribel-les-Échelles, with 185 metres of ascent. The circular route to the Grotte du Loup runs mainly through woodland, crosses numerous streams and offers views of the surrounding hills.
The family hike “De la Madone au Rocharay” is a 5.9-kilometre circular hike starting from Miribel-les-Échelles, with 219 metres of ascent. It begins at the church and leads via Notre-Dame du Château and the so-called Druid stones.
Local Produce
GAEC La ferme de Miri’Bêle offers raw-milk cheeses such as Tomme, Bleu and Saint-Marcellin IGP, as well as yoghurt, ice cream, rillettes and saucissons. It invites visitors to meet the farm producers who have been working in the Chartreuse since 2020 and to discover cheese, dairy products, and pork and mutton products.
For “Aux Racines de l’Hêtre”, workshops on woodturning and small-scale woodworking for adults and children were planned via Chartreuse Tourisme.
