Meylan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Clos des Capucins is a publicly accessible park in Meylan covering more than 5 hectares. The former Château at Clos des Capucins was converted into a Capuchin monastery. At the beginning of the 17th century, the site was known as Château du Cizerin.

Nature and landscape

Parc des Étangs is the 5-hectare public section of the Maupertuis estate. It has observation points and facilities for wildlife. The park is home to rare species such as oriental plane trees, a giant sequoia and a California incense cedar.

The Boucle de la Taillat area, designated as an Espace Naturel Sensible, is located in Meylan. It offers sweeping views of the Belledonne, Chartreuse and Vercors mountain ranges. On the banks of the pond at Boucle de la Taillat, visitors can observe kingfishers, Eurasian hobbies and grey herons searching for food. From the Grenoble metropolitan area, Boucle de la Taillat can be reached by bicycle via the cycle paths along the Isère.

Paths and walking routes

At the analemmatic sundial in Parc du Bruchet, visitors can use their shadows to read solar time. Meylan's heritage trail “Entre culture et religion” comprises 20 stops and runs from Saint-Victor Church to Clos des Capucins.

The “À la découverte de l'eau, hier et aujourd'hui” trail in Meylan comprises 22 stops. The “À travers champs” trail also comprises 22 stops and explores the town's rural past.

La Grande Traverse is a footpath lined with hedges and connected to an east-west crossing of Meylan. Along the route, 25 selected sites draw walkers' attention to the landscape, urban planning, history, rural life, water and nature.

Culture and local traditions

Every year in June, on the morning of Saint John's Day, bread is baked communally at the Charlaix bread oven. The bread oven was acquired and renovated by the municipality in 1989.
