Herbeys: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Culture and history
The history of Château d’Herbeys began around 1310 with a hunting pavilion called “Tour Quarrée”, built by Seigneur Antelme de Commiers.
The painting “Adoration des bergers” is a copy made between 1620 and 1668, bears the coat of arms of Pierre Scarron, Bishop of Grenoble, and is associated with the Church of Saint-Victor-et-Saint-Ours in Herbeys.
The Italian-style salon “le Dôme” and the dining room of Château d’Herbeys were classified as historic monuments by decree of 14 December 1949. The château is visible from the road, was acquired by a private owner in 1998, and is currently not accessible to visitors. Fort des Quatre Seigneurs is also closed to the public today.
The Ferme auberge des Charrières serves local products. In the town centre, the Herbe et Coquelicot producers’ shop sells products from local agriculture.
The decision to rent a holiday apartment in Herbeys specifically concerns this place of stay.
Cycling and hiking
The mountain-bike tour “Balade champêtre en VTT autour de Brié et Angonnes” is a difficult 19 km circular route with 495 m of elevation gain, reserved for experts or experienced riders. It starts at the Herbeys town hall car park next to the village church.
The route follows the Crêtes d’Herbeys and offers views of the Vaulnaveys-le-Haut valley, the Chamrousse summit, the foothills of the Vercors and the Grenoble valley.
The short circular hike “Petite boucle autour du Fort des Quatre Seigneurs” follows the wooded Le Fournet trail and the Chemin des 4 Seigneurs. It offers views of the Grenoble valley and the Vercors.
