The eight walking routes for exploring Châbons include Sous l’Eglise, Le Petit Nan, Les Petits Diables, Passage Aux Serves, Au Fil de l’Eau, Au Dessus du Bois des Côtes, Les Martins and Le Bois du Seigneur. Since 2004, volunteer guides have accompanied visitor groups each year on sightseeing tours through the Bourbre Valley, the Bièvre Plain and the Côte Saint-André; the Jongkind route passes through Châbons.
Culture
From 1861 onwards, the Château de Pupetières was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style under the direction of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc. The Château de Pupetières welcomes groups outside the stated opening dates by prior reservation.
The Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Châbons was built in 1897 to replace the former church. It is the only church in the Diocese of Grenoble with a Greek-cross floor plan.
Near Châbons is the Ancienne chartreuse de La Sylve-Bénite, a historic building classified as a monument. The Abbaye de Bonnecombe (Isère) is considered a historic site in the area around Châbons. The wider regional area also includes the Château de Césarges, classified as a château, and the Prieuré de Notre-Dame de Grâce, considered a historic site.
Nature
The Tourbière du Grand Lemps is located within the municipalities of Châbons and Le Grand-Lemps in Bas-Dauphiné, at an altitude of 500 m, and occupies a glacial valley of the Terres Froides. Due to its alkaline and acidic peat communities, its distinctive hydrological features and the fauna observed there, it is of exceptional importance as natural heritage.
The publicly accessible Jardin de Tourbières in the northern part of the protected area has a discovery trail running through the peatland and is the starting point for two family-friendly circular walks. The wider regional area around Châbons includes Baracuchet, classified as a mountain, the Pic de la Grande Aiguille, classified as a peak, Malan, classified as a mountain, and Bec de l'Orient, classified as a peak.
