Culture
The Cité Médiévale de Saint-Valery-sur-Somme comprises fortified walls, towers, fortified gates, a castle, a two-aisled church and chequerboard walls made of hewn flint as well as sandstone or limestone. It also features narrow cobbled streets, flower-filled alleyways, and half-timbered and overhanging houses, the oldest of which date from the 15th and 16th centuries.
The Tours Guillaume are remains dating from the 11th century and are among the oldest surviving landmarks of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme. They offer panoramic views over the Baie de Somme.
The Chapelle de Saint-Valery dite des marins is a neo-Gothic chapel with chequerboard walls made of white stone and flint, as well as a bell tower topped by a seagull.
