Saigneville: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A historical landmark of the area is the Gué de Blanquetaque: it enabled several armies to cross the Somme, including the army of Edward III on its way to the Battle of Crécy in August 1346 during the Hundred Years’ War. The crossing runs southwards from a point halfway between Port-le-Grand and Noyelles-sur-Mer towards Saigneville.

After leaving the Marais de Saigneville, the Saint-Fuscien springs lead to an old mill. It was built in 1830 by the journeyman carpenter Savary.

Culture

The Église Saint-Fuscien is located on Rue de la Falise. Its half-timbering dates from 1492; the walls are made of dressed limestone, and the base is made of flint and tuff. The bell is 90 centimetres high and bears an inscription in honour of the Chatelain de Vignacourt and Madame Suzanne, his sister. It has been listed in the inventory of Monuments historiques since 1912.

Trails

The Parcours des trois sources is a hiking trail at the foot of the “Falaise” of Saigneville. The Circuit de la Mésange can be started at the church square in Saigneville. On this circuit, you cycle between valleys and bocage landscapes in the heart of typical villages of the Vimeu.

Cycling

The Maison du Vélo rents bicycles for adults and children as well as mountain bikes. It is located next to the Véloroute Vallée de Somme on the banks of the Canal de la Somme and offers outdoor activities related to cycling. Individual visitors and groups are welcomed there.
