Poix: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Les Hauts de Poix circular hiking trail is 9 kilometres long and can begin in Poix-de-Picardie. It leads through the town centre and offers the opportunity to discover the Église Saint-Denis and the Viaduc de Poix-de-Picardie.

Nature

The municipality of Poix-de-Picardie is located in the area „Haute vallée et cours de la rivière Poix“, a type 1 continental ZNIEFF. The Poix reaches Poix-de-Picardie and has retained its natural character in the valley despite the weirs that divide the course of the river. The area comprises a mosaic of forests, calcareous grasslands and bocage landscapes with hedgerows, meadows, orchards and ponds.

Culture

The Viaduc de Poix-de-Picardie was built of brick in 1866 and enabled the Amiens–Rouen railway line to cross the 33-metre-deep Faÿ valley. The Église Saint-Denis is an example of the late Gothic Flamboyant Gothic style of Picardy; some of its vault keystones are more than 1.20 metres in size. The viaduct was partially destroyed during the First and Second World Wars and rebuilt true to the original.

In the Somme Sud-Ouest tourism area, hiking trails connect places such as Airaines, Poix-de-Picardie, Conty and Oisemont with castles, churches, market halls and bodies of water.

Visiting

The Poix-de-Picardie tourist information office is located at Place de la République. The Église Saint-Denis was open on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for free, self-guided visits with visitor information materials. The Viaduc de Poix-de-Picardie was accessible year-round and free of charge.
