L'étoile: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

L'Étoile combines several clearly recognisable traces of history and landscape. Camp César has been classified as a historic monument since 1862 and had already been developed as an oppidum since the Bronze Age. The Neolithic enclosure of L'Étoile covers an area of just under 5 hectares. Its main phase is attributed to the Middle Neolithic and dated to around 4500 BC.

Culture and history

The Chapelle Sainte-Anne is part of the local history. The building now known as the Chapelle Sainte-Anne was converted into a chapel in 2004 to replace the church destroyed by fire in 1991. The chapel was consecrated on 24 March 2004 by Monseigneur Bouilleret, Bishop of Amiens. It is built of brick and covered with slate.

The Moulins Bleus include the textile factory district of the Saint-Frères company and the associated workers' settlement, which was established in the 19th century. The Prieuré de Moreaucourt in L'Étoile was founded in 1146. Archaeological excavations at the Prieuré de Moreaucourt uncovered the church and the buildings surrounding the cloister. The Prieuré de Moreaucourt is regularly open to the public.

The former cemetery of L'Étoile features decorative elements of 19th-century funerary art.

Landscape

L'Étoile includes the area designated as a type 1 ZNIEFF, “Cours de la Somme”. The Belvédère de l'Étoile offers panoramic views of the landscapes of the Somme Valley.

Paths

The Balcons sur la Somme circular route passes through Long, Fontaine-sur-Somme, Longpré-les-Corps-Saints and L'Étoile. It is suitable for hiking and mountain biking. The Belvédère de l'Étoile can be reached via the uphill path to the ruins of the Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur church, which was destroyed by fire in 1985.

The Abbaye du Gard in Crouy-Saint-Pierre is a historic site in the surroundings of L'Étoile. The Abbaye Notre-Dame de Bertaucourt is also a historic site in the surroundings of L'Étoile. The Abbaye de Saint-Riquier is a monastery in the surroundings of L'Étoile. The Collégiale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, a church, is located in the immediate surroundings. Les Hortillonnages d'Amiens, a garden, is located in the wider regional surroundings of L'Étoile.
