Culture
The inner porch of the Church of Saint Martin in Cocquerel is one of the few surviving Romanesque remnants in the area. The church also features stained-glass windows, sculptures and richly decorated corbels that once conveyed the sacred texts to parishioners. The Chapelle de Longuet is also open to visitors in Cocquerel.
Landscape
Cocquerel lies in the Somme Valley, whose landscape comprises three clearly distinguishable areas: the marshy banks of the Somme, the limestone slopes and the agricultural Ponthieu Plateau.
In the hamlet of Longuet, which belongs to Cocquerel, Rue d’En-Bas lies between the Somme and the plain; it leads down to the ponds.
Trails
The Les hauts de Pont-Rémy route follows the Somme and its ponds before continuing to the bridge near Cocquerel. It is 9.5 kilometres long, suitable for walking and cycling, and takes an average of 3 hours and 20 minutes on foot or 1 hour by bicycle.
After crossing the bridge, the GR® 800 heads towards Cocquerel; it then follows the D 112 for 500 metres.
Surrounding Area
There are two abbeys near Cocquerel: the Abbaye de Saint-Riquier and the Abbaye de Notre Dame de Willencourt. The Collégiale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, a church, is located in the immediate vicinity. Further afield in the Cocquerel region is the Abbaye du Gard (Crouy-Saint-Pierre, France), a historic site.
