Culture and History
The Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption in Assevillers bears the “Architecture contemporaine remarquable” label. It was built during construction campaigns in 1923 and 1930 according to plans by the architect Louis Duthoit.
In front of the church, the Neolithic Polissoir Grès de Saint-Martin is preserved on a landscaped green area. The triangular grey sandstone block is 2.60 metres long and features polishing hollows and grooves that were used to sharpen stone tools. By decree of 11 February 1899, the Grès de Saint-Martin was classified as a historic monument. According to a local legend, the depressions were made by Saint Martin’s horse; the hollow is associated with the healing of sick draught animals. The mairie-école, or town hall-school, stands directly next to the church and completes this urban block.

Remembrance
Assevillers New British Cemetery is located at the entrance to the village, behind the A1 motorway and the high-speed railway line. It commemorates more than 800 casualties of the First World War; two fifths of them are unidentified. Special memorial stones commemorate 25 soldiers and one airman from the United Kingdom who are known or believed to be buried there.
After the armistice, the cemetery was established by consolidating graves from the battlefields of the Somme and other burial grounds.

The Museum of the Great War is located in the vicinity of Assevillers. The Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Brelle is also nearby.
In the wider regional area around Assevillers is Chateau de Ham, a castle. The Abbatiale Saint-Pierre de Corbie, a historic site, is also located there.
