Rouvroy-Sur-Serre: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The residents of Rouvroy-sur-Serre rebuilt the Church of Saint Nicholas in 1828. In the region, it is a rare religious building with a timber frame and clay infill on a foundation of stone and brick.

The first washhouse in Rouvroy-sur-Serre is located on a slope and covered with a hipped slate roof. Its façade still features wooden drip rails and a blue-stone basin.

The second washhouse is an open-air washhouse and the only one of its kind in the canton. Originally, brick walls separated three basins arranged one behind the other, which can now only be vaguely made out.

Rouvroy-sur-Serre is one of the 19 municipalities along the Route des Lavoirs, where 26 washhouses can be discovered. Information panels have been installed at the stops to accompany visitors.

Rouvroy-sur-Serre is one of the municipalities along the Le Val de Serre route; the Church of Saint Nicholas is a designated stop on this route. The Le Val de Serre trail follows the former Laon–Liart railway line through meadows, forests and wetlands.

The Church of Saint Nicholas can currently only be viewed from the outside; it is closed to the public due to ongoing work.
