Culture and History
The Church of Saint Peter and Paul was built at the same time as Laon Cathedral and was constructed in two successive building phases. Its structure consists of a nave with two bays and two aisles, a broad transept, and a strongly pronounced choir. The apse is flanked by two subsidiary apses that open diagonally onto the choir.
The Church of Saint Peter and Paul can be visited by prior appointment at the town hall. Today, only the bases of the choir's buttresses remain from the former Church of Saint Peter aux Creuttes; the Fontaine Saint Pierre is located between them. Paths and Landscape
The GR12A long-distance hiking trail passes through the wooded hills of Chété and Les Creuttes in Mons-en-Laonnois. The Panorama des Creuttes circular hiking trail follows the Chemin des Creuttes for part of its route and offers views of old troglodytic dwellings built into rocks and rock outcrops.
Nature
The Mare de la Canotte was restored in 2005 and features a great diversity of aquatic, marshland, and terrestrial plants. Green and brown frogs have been observed at the Mare de la Canotte; approximately 15 plant species have also been recorded there.
Viticulture
Viticulture has been documented in Mons-en-Laonnois since 985 and was once the main activity of the Montois.
