Brunehamel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Brunehamel is located on the Brune River. Local buildings and memorial sites include the Church of Saint-Nicolas, the town hall with its campanile, the château, several washhouses and various memorials.
Culture
The Church of Saint-Nicolas has a stone-and-wood nave dating from the 16th to the 17th century. It also has an 18th-century brick choir, built on the former fortification walls of the municipality. After a fire in 1996, the church was rebuilt using the traditional construction methods of Thiérache.
The campanile of Brunehamel Town Hall houses a carillon installed in 2004. Also in 2004, the Sainte-Fortunée fountain washhouse was fully restored by the municipality. It comprises a covered area and an open area with three blue-stone basins connected by steps, set on a brick-paved floor.
Brunehamel Château is privately owned. It was recently restored and is made of brick and stone, designed in the Louis XIII style with a rectangular residential building and a round corner tower dating from the 16th to the 17th century.
A second washhouse, designed as a watering trough for livestock, is located on Rue de la Fontaine Fleurie towards Parfondeval. It has a rounded blue-stone basin, brick gables with round openings and a pitched roof made of natural slate.
The Brunehamel memorial stele was erected in 1968 on the site of the former temporary cemetery. The village is also home to the memorial “Monument to the military and civilian victims of the battles of Mont-Saint-Jean and Brunehamel on 16 May 1940”. A memorial marker belonging to the departmental Aisne Terre de Mémoire network was inaugurated between Brunehamel and Mont-Saint-Jean on 15 May 2022.
