History
Villerest was formerly a parish attached to Écouis and had a chapel. Between the RD6014 and the hamlet of Villerest, a visible section of the Chaussée Jules César, which runs towards Radepont, can sometimes be identified. This road connected Lutèce (Paris) with Juliobona (Lillebonne), passing through Ritumagus (Radepont) and Rotomagus (Rouen).
Culture
The municipal PLU lists eight buildings in Villerest in a register of rural buildings. They were selected for protection; a change of use is possible. In addition, a farm on cadastral parcel D72 in Villerest is recorded as a notable building. The older buildings in Villerest have been preserved and are partly in good repair; in most cases, they are large former agricultural buildings.

A preserved vegetation belt fully integrates the hamlet of Villerest into the surrounding landscape.
In the host municipality of Écouis, numerous rural paths, footpaths and small lanes are recorded, enabling travel on foot, by bicycle and on horseback; no designated hiking trail is recorded there.
Three ponds are recorded in Villerest and classified as worthy of protection; one is public and two are private. They are part of the traditional rural landscape, have landscape and ecological value, and can serve as potential refuges for notable species.
