Culture and History

Since 2003, the Musée d'Art, Histoire et Archéologie d'Evreux has held the designation Musée de France under French heritage law. The Musée des Impressionnismes Giverny is dedicated to the international Impressionist movement, Post-Impressionism and later developments.

Château de Vascœuil has a permanent collection of more than 50 original sculptures in its park and French garden. Château Gaillard was built by Richard the Lionheart between 1196 and 1198 on a rocky spur 90 metres above the Seine.

From Vernon-Giverny station, Giverny can be reached by electric shuttle or a narrated tourist train. Giverny is served by Nomad bus line 208, which connects Gisors and Vernon. From Vernon to Giverny, it takes around 20 minutes by bicycle on La Seine à Vélo.

Gastronomy and Regional Places

Ferme des Amélias produces Camembert, cider and yoghurt on site and offers tastings. Ferme des Amélias in the Pays d’Ouche offers guided tours of the farm and cheese-making facilities.

The Fête de la Pomme, du Cidre et du Fromage takes place at the Conches arboretum, with local producers and craftspeople represented.
