Le Fidelaire: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The La Fieffe Gérard area is home to Molinia meadows as well as marshy alder, willow and bog-myrtle forests. At least three amphibian species have been demonstrably reproducing there: the edible frog (Rana esculenta), the fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) and the smooth newt.

Nature

La Noëtte is a woodland pond with acidic, oligotrophic water and diverse aquatic vegetation. Among other species, La Noëtte is home to marsh seedbox (Ludwigia palustris), bladder sedge (Carex vesicaria) and a bladderwort of the vulgaris group (Utricularia sp.). La Noëtte de Lierru is a permanently water-filled woodland pond in the private Lierru area with diverse vegetation; the regionally protected featherfoil (Hottonia palustris) grows there.

At the intersection of the RD830 and RD174 in Le Fidelaire, there are dry sandy grasslands with remarkable plants such as silver hairgrass (Aira caryophyllea), heath grass (Danthonia decumbens), thyme-leaved milkwort (Polygala serpylifolia), heath bedstraw (Galium saxatile) and heath spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata).

Culture

Protected heritage features can also be found in the village itself. The Église du Fidelaire is listed as a historic monument and has been protected as an “Inscrit MH” since 24 November 1961. The yew tree in Le Fidelaire’s public square has been protected as a classified site since 14 December 1933.

Hiking

The hiking trails in the municipality of Le Fidelaire are equipped with signposts bearing a logo and precise directional markers. At Couaillette, information panels by a pond explain the floating water-plantain (Luronium natans).

Events

The Fête de la Nature took place in Le Fidelaire on 25 May 2025 and 24 May 2026, each time from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with free admission. At the 2026 Fête de la Nature in Le Fidelaire, regional products were sold and local craftspeople took part.
